What Crypto’s Fastest-Minted Billionaire Tells You About Investing In The Industry

Ever heard of the guy who invested $8,000 dollars in a token and turned it into $5.7 Billion? If you haven’t here is a brief.
In late 2020, a crypto investor bought about $8,000 worth of Shiba Inu tokens. He clearly had no idea how impactful this one decision in his life was going to be, barely a year later. At the time the token was unknown and the likelihood of it turning into anything serious was extremely low.
The result was likely one of the greatest individual trades of all time. Shiba Inu at the top barely a year later had grown by more than 7 million percent. These are figures unheard of anywhere in finance, in such a short period of time.
While a lot can be said about the significance of this market behavior, in my opinion here are 4 things that one can take away from what is arguably the world’s greatest trade.
Volatility is Extreme on the Upside and on the Downside
Crypto volatility is extreme both on the upside and on the downside. Over a multi-year time frame, this provides opportunities that are not easy to find anywhere else.
The market in bull and bear runs will swing by high percentage points on a frequent basis. Such moves in traditional stock markets would have triggered the Circuit breakers multiple times in a day.
A market like this requires very little use of leverage as the gains and potential losses are almost infinite.
Possibly the Easiest Space to Make Money, if Done Right
Crypto offers one of the rarest asymmetric investment opportunities. The fact that it is global and decentralized in nature means inclusivity is not experienced by any investment product in centuries.
All an investor had to do was dollar cost average in during the bear run and out during the bull run and he/she is almost guaranteed to make multiples of his money.
Diversification Works, but not the way you Think
Diversification is a core tenet of the investing world. The ability to spread your bet means you are unlikely to lose money in one project e.g., Luna.
When it comes to catching the next Shiba, this is almost impossible to get right. It depends too much on the market behavior at that point.
You therefore must set aside a portion of your investment portfolio for speculation and take bets as they come.
This Will Happen Again!
Human psychology and the behavior of crowds will ensure that several billionaires will be minted in a similar fashion in the future.
When you combine the human tendency for FOMO with a 2017-style bull run in the coming years, it simply guarantees that we will end up with tokens that go from 0 to billions in a short period of time.
When that happens, you will see instant millionaires and billionaires being minted. In a lot of cases, this will be for brief periods — likely at the top of the market. If they don’t lock their gains, they will have to scale out on the downturn.
